Born in Honolulu, Hawaii, and raised in sunny Southern California, JoiMei has spent much of her life using her voice—through music, speaking, storytelling, and creativity—to connect with people from all walks of life.
Raised in the performing arts, JoiMei is no stranger to the stage. Influenced by artists such as Whitney Houston, Alicia Keys, and Yolanda Adams, her own expression is rooted in authenticity and a desire to inspire, challenge, encourage, and bring joy to others.
The name JoiMei comes from the Japanese name Jomei, meaning “Shine Light.” That meaning reflects the purpose behind much of what she does.
Whether through a song, a stage, a conversation, or a shared moment, JoiMei's mission remains the same: to shine light, create connection, and leave people with more hope, love, and joy.

This song ties into the life and testimony of JoiMei. Can't Live Without You clearly states that God is needed to Live, Breathe, Be, and See. It is intended to speak to all walks of life in a very real and practical way.

To "Shine Light" is a mission that is focused on in everything that JoiMei touches.
